About HOTEL OHKAME

HOTEL OHKAME is located near Fukushima Station which can be accessed from Tokyo Station by Tohoku Shinkansen with 1 hour 40 minutes. Due to its convenient location of 2 minute walk from the station, the hotel has been receiving favorable reputation for business trip as well as tourists. Meaning of the Hotel

"OHKAME" means "large turtle ("kame" in Japanese)". Turtles have been believed to be fortunate animals of longevity. It is said that "OHKAME" derives from the name of my grandfather, the first CEO, Kamekichi Watanabe. The Hotel opened in 1921 as "Japanese-style restaurant Ohkamero" and became very popular in Fukushima.
My father opened "Ryokan (Japanese-style inn) Ohkame" as a branche. Later, the ryokan has been totally redesigned and reopened as "The Hotel OHKAME" at the same year that Tohoku Shinkansen opened. The Hotel has both warmest hospitality of ryokan and convenience of hotel for your finest stay in Fukushima.
